Sunday Notes
A weekly note on medicine, life, and everything in between
Welcome back to Sunday Notes! This is my weekly Substack where I’ll share a few things I’m enjoying lately and a little bit about what I’ve been up to and am working on. We finally are seeing a glimpse of spring weather! We had a family day at the park yesterday - my daughter decided she wants to PR her 5K later this spring - it’s fun training with her!

Earlier this week, I traveled to DC for the American Society of Clinical Oncology Cancer Communications Committee Meeting. This is where we pick the Press Program for the 2026 ASCO Meeting (the biggest oncology meeting globally)- essentially, what is the research that will be presented to the media. Generally, this is research that is practice changing and news worthy. Getting excited for the Annual Meeting at the end of May and of course, I’ll be sharing all the updates here throughout the meeting.

The day after I got back from DC, I was a guest on two separate podcasts! The first was on PINK 365 with Miranda Mckeon. We talked about everything related to breast cancer and survivorship - including knowing your breast cancer risk, screening, nutrition, alcohol, GLP-1s, circulating tumor DNA, new research, menopause - you name it! The other podcast was the Filthy Milfs - and we talked about everything you need to know about breast cancer screening and risk (and more!).

The podcast I did with Breastcancer.org on “Cooling and Compression to Prevent Neuropathy” is out and you can listen to it here. These are techniques that aim to reduce the incidence of peripheral neuropathy during chemotherapy and can be helpful!
I was quoted in this fantastic article: “Sorry, You’re Not Invited to the Menopause Party” by Gila Pfeffer and Jessica Zucker. I feel very strongly about this topic and it’s great to see this conversation happening!
ICYMI: I posted this week on alcohol and cancer and breast density on social media.
If you’re new here, I also have a podcast, where I share the stories and experiences of those affected my cancer. This week’s guest on the Interlude Podcast is Heather Jose, who has been living with metastatic breast cancer for over 25 years. She shares her experience living with metastatic breast cancer—from the initial diagnosis to what the past 25 years have truly looked like. We talked about everything from fertility and pregnancy after diagnosis and relationships to financial toxicity and work after a MBC diagnosis.
📚 What I’m Reading
I just finished Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage by Belle Burden. I loved it and thought it was beautifully written. I haven’t decided what’s next (stay tuned for next week!). Anyone else experience book hangovers and need time before deciding on the next read?
📺 What I’m Watching
I finished Lessons in Chemistry (the book was great and the show is fun). (I can’t wait for Bonnie Garmus’ new book, Peck & Peck, which will come out in October.) My husband and I are catching up on this season of Shrinking — so so good!!!
🍓 Recipe I’m Planning To Try:
I found this recipe for Sushi Salmon Bake which seems easy to make and delicious. Planning to try it this week for an easy dinner.
📝 What I’m Up To This Week:
Copyedits for my book, Beyond The Pink!! The book comes out in just a little over 6 months - we’ve come so far from early 2024 when I was starting to work on the book proposal to now. I’m so excited for the next step- and am so grateful for all of you who have already pre-ordered!
Dr. Corinne Menn, Dr. Laila Agrawal and I are starting to work on our next project- stay tuned for more info soon! Last year, we published the WISH-BREAST Study (Women’s Insights on Sexual Health After Breast Cancer) and are excited to continue this work and expand on it.
Hope you all have a great week! Let me know what you’re working on, reading, listening to or cooking!

I recently started a new job in which I am creating my own research function. I was invited to give a televised interview at the NY Stock Exchange this week and asked back for next week! This has always been a goal for me as a career investment researcher 😀
